Molly Annelle is a young singer, songwriter and, on this EP, producer. She grew up in Vancouver and began her musical outpourings in earnest at the tender age of 9 when she won Young Composer of the Year, writing four-part harmonies for The Vancouver Chamber Choir.
Since then she has written two EPs and an album, Melody, which was released in February 2018. This latest EP, Pick Me Ups, is influenced by alternative R&B, chillwave and electronic/dream pop.
A prolific songwriter, Molly Annelle is writing songs for other artists and becoming more and more interested in the production side of the art. In fact, the inspiration for this new EP was driven by the need, as she says; “to create something that was totally my own vision, done by me and only me.”
The overall ethos of Pick Me Ups is meant to do just what the title says – and not just to pick you up, but to entertain you with its storytelling as well as calm you with its soothing, yet funky melodies.
